        Global Blockchain Association and PCA Lebanon sign agreement

        The Government Blockchain Association announced that it will be offering training courses on Blockchain in Lebanon in collaboration with Lebanese Professional Computer Association of Lebanon (PCA).

        The two entities have agreed to partner to deliver blockchain training in the Middle East. As per GBA's announcement "Today’s signing sets a significant milestone for the GBA chapter in Lebanon represented by Mr. Sam Lutfallah and PCA President Mr. Camille Moukarzel. This new relationship will assist to Establish a GBA training institution to deliver blockchain training certifications resulting in closer collaboration with the government of Lebanon on digitization empowered by blockchain solutions." The cooperation will also help to establish a government innovation and technology center and will support unprecedented opportunities, support activities to enact laws and governance on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Governance for better infrastructure and faster delivery of project,  and Enable members of GBA and PCA to deliver on the above

        As per the announcement made by GBA, they stated, "Blockchain is certainly one of the key technology disciplines and game-changer in our pursuit to promote innovation and technology, not only because of its prospective economic contribution to diversify and grow our existing industry and business but also because of its boundless potential to revolutionize digital economies and to enhance the quality of life." 

        There are now over 120 GBA chapters around the world and Lebanon is now on the global map footprint. GBA asserted in its release that it is looking forward to working with organizations in the Middle East to bring the transformational benefits of this technology to every place where people seek to use innovation and technology to better the lives of their people.

        GBA first started to be interested in the MENA region in 2019 when it visited UAE.

        UNLOCK had interviewed the previous Minister of State for Information technology who had discussed that Blockchain would play a role in Lebanon's digitization efforts. The central bank of Lebanon also announced its intent to launch a digital currency, while Lebanon's Beirut Digital District signed an MOU with Ethereum Consensys entity. 

        This recent initiative by Lebanon's PCA and GBA could help to usher in quicker and more effective digitization efforts with blockchain at the helm.
